The Proposition
The Proposition I hadn’t seen it even thought it was much advertised and touted as a really great aussie film.
It was really good not jump out of your seat, happy good but dirty, violent and disgusting good. Each of the roles played by the actors where fantastic and helped in no small part by the script its self. I think that Nick Caves songs helped the backdrop and the feel for the scenes as well.
Altogether and unexpectantly excellent film

Alfie
Watching Alfie reminded me of About a boy well at least one theme was similar, that being the man-ponders-own life theme. Essentially it starts off with us being shown this great single man life, doing what ever and who ever he pleases with the minimum fuss and greatest gain.
I wouldn’t call the the story hard hitting or emotionally griping, but I did find it interesting because I know a few people who are similar to the main character and they have come into some of the same conclusions or faced similar questions - superficially they are rich but internally they are missing something.
The movie is obviously male focused and Jude Law I think plays it quite well as the charming male who is able to bed any women that he wants. Sienna Miller’s in the apartment was an unexpected surprise for me and even Susan Sarandon played a fine role as well and the only reason that I recognised Omar Epps was because of this role is my favourite evening show House M.D
