Google warns Aust copyright laws could cripple Internet November 9th, 2006
What kind of bullshit is this?
Google warns Aust copyright laws could cripple Internet
He says rather than adopting the narrow “fair use” definitions contained in the legislation, Australia should adopt a US-style open-ended fair-use defence to ensure a flow of and access to information.
“In the past when Google has been sued… one of the things it did is take down its links and content,” Dr Rimmer said.
“Google could very well become more reluctant to provide such comprehensive image and news services… and with geo-identification technology you can also offer certain content in some countries and not others.”
I’m probably running my mouth off here again, but it is this kind of stuff that well relegate us even further into the backwaters of the digital age and Internet access.

Google Calendar April 14th, 2006
Google Calendar has finally arrived. I have been wondering when this would happen, I had always seen the yahoo calendar but never really used it and since google has come out with theirs I can give it a go as well.
I don’t think that there is anything special and great about it now, except for a few things that I want to try out, such as being about attach email addresses to events so that people can be reminded if something is coming up, allowing other people to see your calendar and being able to include other people’s calendar into yours, the other big thing that I like is the fact that it’s iCal complient, which means that I be able to view it from my ibook.
I have to say that it does have a few problems at the moment, for some reason sometimes it doesn’t reneder propery with IE but then again I don’t really use IE and normally use firefox which is works for both in windows and apple. Also there is the fact that I’m not located in the U.K or U.S.A so I won’t be able to access the best features such as using the local search for maps, mobile phone notification and such…
I have yet to compare it to yahoo calendar, but since I am such a google fanboy I don’t think I will have to.

Future of Media February 27th, 2006
I know that this might not come true, but I found it fascinating non the less.
I thought that the conclusions they draw to be rather commonsense and even if they are a little off course there have been so many changes throughout the internet that no one was able to predict.
Either way there isn’t much more to say about it, besides watching the the presentation.
I am a bit of a google fan, and I would like to believe that google are one of the those companies that make you believe that corporations are capable of the greater good.
Sure they are profit driven but they also put out good products.
Either way I will let you decide.

Back February 23rd, 2006
Well I have returned from my trip.
I know that I haven’t updated the site in a while, the server died while I was away and I couldn’t do anything about it.
There should be a few updates coming along shortly with a few things about what I did on my time away.
In other news, good have released yet another product!
Let you create you own webpages dynamically and then it publishes them, but you need a google account first.
So if you have a gmail or gtalk account you are good to go.
I am not too sure, but now it make sense why google are registerd to sell domains

End of the World November 3rd, 2005
It looks like the google servers are falling off the internet, not only here in Australia but other places too.
digg
What do we do now.
Is this the end as we know it.
UPDATE:
Looks like it was a DNS problem.
Here: Google (NOT) Hacked? Just A DNS Glitch says Google
My faith never wavered for a minute.

Exams November 3rd, 2005
It’s that time of the year again…exams.
I hate it because…well it sucks, there is so much pressure involved. I also tend to stall and draw blanks when it comes to recalling information in the middle or critical exams so I don’t preform so well either.
To be perfectly honest it’s also the time of the year where I realise how much work I haven’t been doing and how much I have to stress just to catch up to pass the exams.
Unfortuanly Universities find that the best why to judge if a student should pass to the next level is to put them under pressure and test how much knowldege they can retain. Which sounds reasonable unless you are hopeless at exams, just like me.
I guess it’s all supposd to be worth it in the end, get a job that I always wanted and life the life that I have been craving.
The end of the road is so far away it’s a hazy.
I do have one thing to look forward to, and that is my overseas trip.
Also I wouldn’t mind a job here: Google hiring like it’s 1999
Google added 800 employees, bringing its global work force to 4,989. That’s more than triple the total from just two years ago.
“They don’t even have to recruit, it’s so hot,” said Stephen Arnold, author of “The Google Legacy: How Google’s Internet Search is Transforming Application Software.” “I gave a keynote recently in Nimes (France) followed by someone from Google and right in front of my eyes three people went up to him and said, ‘How can I get hired at Google?’”
Of course, there have been more than a few high-profile hires. Google picked up controversial computer scientist Kai-Fu Lee, whose hiring away from Microsoft landed Google in court, and Internet pioneer Vint Cerf, who co-designed the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) and previously worked for MCI.
